Maintenance and upkeep of platinum titanium anode during use!

Update time  2024-01-24 Reading 90

Regarding the maintenance of platinum titanium anodes, it was mentioned earlier that titanium anodes generally have maintenance free properties, meaning that if used continuously, regular cleaning is not necessary. On the contrary, prolonged downtime needs to be taken seriously. Once the equipment is shut down for a long time, it is necessary to clean the surface of the titanium anode. Usually, pure water is used to clean the remaining electroplating solution on the surface.

The key to cleaning is to clean the surface of the titanium anode with sulfuric acid and copper sulfate. This is because sulfuric acid in the electroplating solution will adhere to the surface of the titanium anode coating, and as it evaporates, the concentration of sulfuric acid will significantly increase, leading to an increase in the corrosiveness of sulfuric acid. Meanwhile, copper sulfate remaining on the surface of the titanium anode will also crystallize and precipitate. Copper sulfate in the electroplating solution will penetrate into the micropores of the titanium anode surface coating and crystallize, causing certain damage to the coating structure.

Another issue that needs to be reminded is to avoid using strong alkaline solutions to clean titanium anodes before equipment is put into use or during major maintenance. Strong alkaline solution not only has a certain corrosive effect on the coating but also on the titanium substrate, which can easily cause coating peeling and lead to premature failure of the platinum titanium anode life.
