The chemical industry that produces chlorine gas and caustic soda by electrolyzing saturated salt water solution is called the chlor alkali industry, and this production technology has a history of more than 100 years. During the development of chlor alkali production, electrodes such as platinum, magnetic iron oxide, carbon, and artificial graphite have been tried, but the results were not ideal. However, using precious metal mixed oxide coated titanium electrodes has many advantages. Titanium anode materials have strong chemical corrosion resistance, low chlorine overpotential, good conductivity, high mechanical strength, easy processing, and low price.
Test data for the chlor alkali industry:
1. Chlorination potential enhancement weight loss: ≤ 1.13v
2. Polarization rate: ≤ 30mv
3. Enhanced lifespan: ≥ 3000min
4. Enhanced weight loss: ≤ 10mg
Performance:
Initial chlorine evolution potential (saturated NaCl, C.D.=3kA/m2): ≤ 1.10Vvs SCE.
The lifespan is ≥ 6 years, and the chlorine evolution potential (C.D.=3kA/m2) during the warranty period is not greater than 1.172Vvs SCE.
Shape: determined according to customer requirements. The geometric shape of the product is a mesh box type, a unipolar multi-element plate anode group, or other forms.
Advantages:
Can operate at higher current densities
Low anode potential
Low energy consumption
